Ingredients
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 1/2 to 3 c. self-rising flour
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2/3 c. warm water
Method
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Mix shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in dissolved yeast and add flour.
- Beat until combined. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
- Turn out on floured surface and roll into desired shapes; or after mixing refrigerate overnight and roll out.
- Let rise 1 to 2 hours and cook at 375° until brown and brush with melted butter.
