Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/3 c. light cream
- 1/3 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. walnuts or pecans
Method
- Butter sides of a heavy, 2-quart saucepan.
- In it, combine sugars, cream, milk and butter.
- Over medium heat, stir constantly until sugars dissolve and mixture boils.
- Cook to a soft ball stage (238°), stirring only if necessary.
- Immediately remove from heat and cool to lukewarm (110°), without stirring.
- Add vanilla.
