Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 Tbsp. instant onion
  • 1/2 tsp. dried dill weed, rosemary or other herb
  • melted butter
  • coarse salt

Method

  • Scald milk; remove from heat.
  • Stir in sugar, salt and butter until dissolved.
  • Cool.
  • In large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add cooled milk mixture.
  • Stir flour into yeast mixture.
  • Add onions and herbs.
  • Stir together until well blended.
  • Cover and let rise in warm place until tripled in bulk (45 minutes).
