Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 6 medium onions, sliced
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 c. milk
- 3/4 lb. Swiss cheese, sliced or grated
- French bread, sliced 1-inch thick
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Melt butter in pan; add onion slices.
- Cook until tender, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Put onions in 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Combine soup, milk, salt and pepper.
- Pour over onions and layer with cheese.
- Arrange bread slices on top; brush with butter, if desired.
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
