Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. pecans, chopped
  • 1 (No. 303) can applesauce
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. blackberry jam
  • 1 c. seedless raisins
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 c. oil

Method

  • Mix egg, sugar and oil.
  • Mix together flour (save out 1/4 cup), soda, cloves, cinnamon and allspice.
  • Add salt.
  • Mix dry ingredients alternately with applesauce.
  • Add nuts and raisins which have been coated with the 1/4 cup flour.
  • Last, add jam. Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch oblong pan.
  • Bake at 300° for 1 hour, or until done.
  • Spread on caramel icing.
