Ingredients
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. sliced carrots
- 2 c. sliced raw potatoes
- 1/2 c. onion, chopped
- 1/2 c. uncooked rice
- 2 c. tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. hot water or 1 c. tomato juice
Method
- Brown hamburger in butter.
- Place a layer of meat in a 2-quart casserole dish.
- Top with a layer of each vegetable and rice.
- Put rice on top of meat layer.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Pour hot water over all.
- Cover; bake at 325° for 2 hours.
- Add more water or juice if needed during baking.
- Yields 6 to 8 servings.
