Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour

Method

  • Cream sugar, vanilla and shortening until fluffy.
  • Add eggs alternately with flour.
  • Beat until well blended.
  • Pour into well-greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 1/2-inch loaf pan.
  • Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours or until center is done.
  • Cool about 10 minutes on wire rack.
  • Remove from pan and cool completely. (Lemon flavoring or other flavoring may be substituted.)
