Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. dark molasses
- 1 c. hot water
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan. Cream together the butter and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
- Add molasses; beat well.
- Mix in flour alternately with hot water; blend well.
- Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
- Pour into pan.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
