Ingredients

  • 2 12 cups sugar
  • 4 tablespoons dark cacao
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pie crust
  • 4 egg yolks

Method

  • PIE CRUST:.
  • Defrost 1 standard sized pie crust by leaving it out for 10-15 minutes.
  • Once the crust is defrosted, use a fork to poke holes into crust.
  • Be thorough.
  • Bake pie crust in oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool.
  • PIE FILLING:.
  • Combine dry ingredients.
  • Add milk, egg yolks, and vanilla.
  • Use wire whisk to whip mixture until smooth and creamy.
  • Cook on stove top on medium-high heat until it just starts to thicken.
  • Be sure to continuously stir while cooking to prevent burning.
  • Once it starts to thicken, lower to medium heat.
  • Continue to cook & slowly stir until a very thick "pudding" forms.
  • Remove from heat and whisk until smooth.
  • Pour into prepared pie crust.
  • Chill in refrigerator for 6-8 hours.
  • Do not cover,cut, or serve until pie is completely cooled.
