Ingredients
- 2 12 cups sugar
- 4 tablespoons dark cacao
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pie crust
- 4 egg yolks
Method
- PIE CRUST:.
- Defrost 1 standard sized pie crust by leaving it out for 10-15 minutes.
- Once the crust is defrosted, use a fork to poke holes into crust.
- Be thorough.
- Bake pie crust in oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool.
- PIE FILLING:.
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Add milk, egg yolks, and vanilla.
- Use wire whisk to whip mixture until smooth and creamy.
- Cook on stove top on medium-high heat until it just starts to thicken.
- Be sure to continuously stir while cooking to prevent burning.
- Once it starts to thicken, lower to medium heat.
- Continue to cook & slowly stir until a very thick "pudding" forms.
- Remove from heat and whisk until smooth.
- Pour into prepared pie crust.
- Chill in refrigerator for 6-8 hours.
- Do not cover,cut, or serve until pie is completely cooled.
