Ingredients
- pastry for double crust
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- dash of nutmeg
- dash of salt
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 8 tart apples (such as Granny Smith)
- 3 Tbsp. butter
Method
- Line pie plate with pastry and fill with peeled, thinly sliced apples (pile high in center).
- Mix cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
- Dot with butter; moisten edges of crust with water.
- Fit top crust and seal edges.
- Make vents or lay top crust in lattice strips over the apples and filling.
- Bake at 425° for 1 hour.
