- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- dash of salt
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. water
- 2 c. rolled oats
- 1/4 c. nuts, chopped
Method
- Simmer raisins in water until tender.
- Drain and save liquid. Add water to liquid to make 1/2 cup.
- Cream shortening, sugar and eggs; add liquid and mix well.
- Sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices.
- Add gradually to shortening and liquid mixture. Mix well.
- Add oats.
- Stir in raisins and nuts.
- Drop onto cookie sheet that has been greased and floured lightly.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375°.
