Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1 c. nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Line cookie sheet with foil.
  • Finely chop nuts.
  • Beat egg whites until foamy.
  • Gradually add sugar and vanilla.
  • Beat until stiff peaks form.
  • (Egg whites may be tinted with food coloring if desired.)
  • Fold in chocolate chips and chopped nuts.
  • Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet.
  • Place in oven. Immediately turn oven off.
  • Leave oven door shut for 8 hours. Makes 2 to 3 dozen.
