Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 molasses
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger

Method

  • Preheat oven to 325°.
  • Cream together the butter, brown sugar, egg and molasses; set aside.
  • Sift the dry ingredients.
  • Combine the ingredients and stir until smooth.
  • Put dots of 1/8 teaspoon of dough 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheet and bake 5 to 6 minutes. Cool on rack.
  • Cookies snap off if you twist the sheet slightly.
