Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. hot scalded milk
  • 1 c. cold water
  • 6 to 7 c. sifted all-purpose flour

Method

  • Mix yeast, hot water and 1 teaspoon sugar in bowl;
  • let rise. Pour
  • milk on top of butter in mixing bowl until butter melts. Then
  • pour 1
  • cup cold
  • water on butter mixture. Add sugar and salt.
  • Mix well.
  • Add
  • flour
  • until soupy, about 2 cups flour. Then
  • add
  • yeast
  • and
  • mix well.
  • Add flour until dough won't take
  • any
  • more
  • flour.
  • Knead;
  • let rise in warm place
  • until doubled.
  • Punch
  • down;
  • knead.
  • Divide
  • into
  • 2 loaves.
  • Place in bread pans and let rise again.
  • Bake at 375° for 1 hour.
