Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. hot scalded milk
- 1 c. cold water
- 6 to 7 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Method
- Mix yeast, hot water and 1 teaspoon sugar in bowl;
- let rise. Pour
- milk on top of butter in mixing bowl until butter melts. Then
- pour 1
- cup cold
- water on butter mixture. Add sugar and salt.
- Mix well.
- Add
- flour
- until soupy, about 2 cups flour. Then
- add
- yeast
- and
- mix well.
- Add flour until dough won't take
- any
- more
- flour.
- Knead;
- let rise in warm place
- until doubled.
- Punch
- down;
- knead.
- Divide
- into
- 2 loaves.
- Place in bread pans and let rise again.
- Bake at 375° for 1 hour.
