Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. instant coffee
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 can chocolate syrup
  • 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • whipped cream
  • orange slices
  • walnuts
  • mint leaves

Method

  • Combine butter, 1 cup sugar and coffee until light.
  • Beat in eggs.
  • Stir in syrup until well blended; combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Fold flour mixture into batter until blended. Stir in 1 cup nuts and vanilla.
  • Pour into greased and floured pan.
  • Combine remaining sugar and nuts.
  • Sprinkle evenly over batter.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until sides pull away from pan.
  • Garnish with whipped cream, orange slices, nuts and mint leaves.
