Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 pkg. miniature marshmallows

Method

  • Cream sugar, shortening and eggs.
  • Beat.
  • Mix together flour, cocoa and salt.
  • Add to creamed mixture.
  • Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake at 300° for 35 minutes.
  • Remove from oven, but leave it on.
  • Spread marshmallows over cake. Return to oven for 20 minutes more or until marshmallows are melted.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Cool for 20 minutes, then spread with icing.
