Ingredients
- 3 c. flour
- 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 c. milk
- 1 egg
Method
- Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt.
- Cut in shortening.
- Combine egg and milk.
- Add to flour all at once, stirring just enough to stick together.
- Turn onto lightly floured surface.
- Knead lightly 15 times.
- Roll to 1-inch thickness.
- Cut and place 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes.
- Makes 16 biscuits.
