Ingredients
- 1 box pasta shells (for stuffing)
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 16 oz. picante sauce or salsa (mild)
- 1/2 c. water
- 8 oz. tomato sauce
- 4 oz. chopped chilies (optional)
- 8 oz. Monterey Jack cheese, grated
- 1 small onion, chopped
Method
- Cook and drain shells. Brown beef and drain.
- Combine picante sauce, water and tomato sauce.
- Stir 1/2 cup into ground beef along with chilies, 1/2 cup grated cheese and onion.
- Mix. Pour 1/2 of remaining sauce on bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Stuff shells with meat.
- Arrange shells in dish, pour remaining sauce over shells.
- Then top with remaining cheese. Bake in 350° oven for 30 to 40 minutes (cover for at least 30 minutes of baking time).
