Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c. green pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/2 c. onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • dash of pepper

Method

  • Combine meat, crumbs and eggs with 1 cup tomato sauce; reserve remaining sauce.
  • Mix in onion, green pepper and seasonings. Shape mixture into loaf in shallow baking dish.
  • Bake at 350° for 50 minutes.
  • Pour remaining sauce over top of loaf; continue baking 10 minutes.
  • Makes 6 to 8 servings.
