- 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
- 1 egg
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
- 3/4 c. bread crumbs
- salt and pepper
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
Method
- Combine ground chuck, egg, pepper, onion, bread crumbs and seasonings.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Shape into balls.
- Brown in shortening until all sides of meat are evenly browned (approximately 10 minutes).
- Add tomato sauce, water and bay leaf. Bring to a boil.
- Simmer 1 hour.
- Serve over spaghetti.
- Serves 6.
