Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 1/2 c. celery and leaves, chopped fine
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic or 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 8 oz. pkg. fine egg noodles
  • 2 cans tomato soup
  • 1 (6 oz.) can mushrooms and liquid
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated

Method

  • Brown meat in large skillet.
  • Remove excess fat.
  • Add celery, onions and garlic with 1 tablespoon water.
  • Cover and steam until vegetables are tender.
  • Cook the noodles and add to beef mixture. Mix in all other ingredients except cheese.
  • Spread mixture in 2 1/2 or 3-quart casserole.
  • Top with cheese.
  • Put in a cold oven set at 350°.
  • Bake, uncovered, about 1 hour or until bubbling. (Freezes well.)
