Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground turkey or beef
  • 1 c. fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar

Method

  • In a medium bowl, lightly mix ground meat, bread crumbs, onion, 1/2 (4 ounces) tomato sauce, egg, salt and pepper.
  • Shape into loaf in shallow baking pan. Combine remaining tomato sauce with rest of the ingredients.
  • Pour over loaf.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 1/4 hours. Baste loaf several times.
  • Makes 5 to 6 servings.
