Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean beef chuck, cubed
- 2 Tbsp. fat
- 4 c. water
- 6 medium carrots, diced
- 4 medium potatoes, diced
- 1/2 small onion, sliced
- 1/2 c. flour
Method
- Roll beef chunks in flour and coat well. Melt fat in a large saucepan.
- Brown beef slowly and thoroughly.
- Add 4 cups water. Cover tightly and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
- At the end of 1 hour, if beef cubes are not completely covered, add 1 cup of water.
- Add carrots, potatoes and onion to saucepan.
- Cover tightly and simmer for 30 minutes until vegetables are tender.
