Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 8 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 3/4 c. milk
Method
- Cook 1/2 cup sugar in black skillet until melted and golden. Mix egg, butter and remainder of sugar with milk in a heavy boiler and cook over medium heat until butter melts.
- Add caramelized sugar.
- Cook until soft ball can be formed in cold water.
- I use a candy thermometer and cook it to 232°.
- Add vanilla; beat.
