Ingredients

  • 1 c. macaroni
  • 1 quart. warm water
  • Few drops of oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounce. Cheddar cheese (1 3/4 c., cubed)
  • 1/4 c. onion, minced
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 teaspoon flour

Method

  • Cook the macaroni in boiling water for 7 to 8 min.
  • A few drops of oil makes it not stick together.
  • Drain and run cool water over to remove excess starch.
  • Drain well.
  • Beat Large eggs slightly and add in Worcestershire sauce, a little paprika.
  • Layer the cooked macaroni in a 2 qt baking dish, starting with the macaroni, cheese cubes, add in onions, salt, pepper, paprika, dots of butter and 1 tsp.
  • flour to each layer, ending with cheese all over the top layer.
  • Pour the egg mix over macaroni and cheese, making sure flour is dissolved on the top.
  • Sprinkle little bread crumbs over the top for variation and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
