- 1 c. macaroni
- 1 quart. warm water
- Few drops of oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounce. Cheddar cheese (1 3/4 c., cubed)
- 1/4 c. onion, minced
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3 teaspoon flour
Method
- Cook the macaroni in boiling water for 7 to 8 min.
- A few drops of oil makes it not stick together.
- Drain and run cool water over to remove excess starch.
- Drain well.
- Beat Large eggs slightly and add in Worcestershire sauce, a little paprika.
- Layer the cooked macaroni in a 2 qt baking dish, starting with the macaroni, cheese cubes, add in onions, salt, pepper, paprika, dots of butter and 1 tsp.
- flour to each layer, ending with cheese all over the top layer.
- Pour the egg mix over macaroni and cheese, making sure flour is dissolved on the top.
- Sprinkle little bread crumbs over the top for variation and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
