Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. small elbow macaroni
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. grated cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dried minced onion
  • 1/2 c. grated sharp cheese

Method

  • Boil 3/4 cup small elbow macaroni for 5 minutes in water salted with 1 teaspoon salt. Melt margarine in a saucepan. Add flour and mix with the margarine. Add milk.
  • Add 3/4 cup grated cheese; bring to a boil.
  • Add pepper. Add salt. Add dried minced onion. Put drained macaroni in a greased casserole. Pour sauce over it. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup grated sharp cheese. Bake at 450° for 15 minutes. For drier macaroni and cheese, bake another 5 minutes.
