Ingredients
- 2 lb. elbow macaroni
- 2 qt. milk
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
- 2 lb. grated natural sharp Cheddar cheese
- 3 lb. ham or frankfurters (optional)
Method
- Cook macaroni in large pot of salted water until tender. Drain.
- Meanwhile in heavy pot, melt butter.
- Add flour and stir for 2 minutes.
- Stir in mustard.
- Slowly add milk.
- Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened.
- Add cheese; stir until melted.
- Add optional ham or frankfurters, cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Pour into baking pan sprayed with nonstick spray.
- Bake in 400° oven for 20 minutes.
