Ingredients

  • 2 lb. elbow macaroni
  • 2 qt. milk
  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 lb. grated natural sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 3 lb. ham or frankfurters (optional)

Method

  • Cook macaroni in large pot of salted water until tender. Drain.
  • Meanwhile in heavy pot, melt butter.
  • Add flour and stir for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in mustard.
  • Slowly add milk.
  • Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened.
  • Add cheese; stir until melted.
  • Add optional ham or frankfurters, cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • Pour into baking pan sprayed with nonstick spray.
  • Bake in 400° oven for 20 minutes.
