Ingredients

  • 1 c. elbow macaroni
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs

Method

  • Cook macaroni according to package directions.
  • Drain.
  • Place in buttered casserole dish.
  • Melt butter in double boiler; add flour, salt and pepper and stir.
  • Slowly add milk and stir until sauce thickens.
  • Cut cheese into cubes; add to sauce.
  • Stir constantly until cheese melts.
  • Pour cheese sauce over macaroni. Top with bread crumbs. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
  • Makes 2 to 3 servings.
