Ingredients

  • 2 c. scaled lowfat milk
  • 5 tbsp. shortening
  • 5 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 2 Large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • Flour

Method

  • Add in water to make frosting thick sufficient to spread.
  • Spread while hot.
  • Cold lowfat milk.
  • Add in all remaining ingredients except flour.
  • Dissolve yeast in hot water.
  • Add in sufficient flour to make soft dough.
  • Cover and let raise till doubled in size.
  • Punch down and let raise again for 1 hour.
  • Turn on floured surface roll out 1 inch thickness cut with pizza cutter or possibly donut cutter.
  • Let raise 1/2 hour and fry in lard till light brown.
  • Frost long johns.
  • Dip donuts in sugar.
