Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 (16 oz.) pkg. lasagna noodles
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. large curd cream-style cottage cheese
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. sliced Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  • In saucepan, brown the ground beef, onion and garlic.
  • Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt and pepper.
  • Simmer for 1 hour. Cook the noodles in boiling salted water until tender; drain. Combine the egg, cottage cheese and 1 teaspoon of salt; mix well. Grease a 3-quart casserole dish.
  • Layer 1/2 the noodles, 1/2 the meat sauce, 1/2 the cottage cheese, 1/2 the Mozzarella and 1/2 the Parmesan.
  • Repeat layers.
  • Bake in a 375° oven for 30 minutes.
