Ingredients
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. lemon extract
- 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. water
- 6 stiffly beaten egg whites
Method
- Stir shortening to soften.
- Gradually add sugar and cream together until light and fluffy.
- Add extracts and egg yolks. Sift flour; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and water, beginning and ending with flour.
- Beat after each addition. Fold in egg whites.
- Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
