Ingredients
- 2 lb. round steak, cubed
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 bay leaves
- 10 whole allspice
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. flour
- water
- 2 tsp. salt
Method
- Coat meat with flour and brown in hot oil in Dutch oven. Remove meat.
- Stir in 2 cups water and cook and stir to loosen brown bits.
- Add meat and remaining ingredients.
- Cook and simmer 2 hours or until meat is tender.
- Add more water during cooking time as needed.
- Remove allspice and bay leaves.
- Serve with pickled beets and mashed potatoes.
