Ingredients

  • 2 c. very warm water
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 5 to 5 1/2 c. bread flour
  • margarine, melted

Method

  • Combine water, yeast and sugar, and let stand for 10 minutes. Add salt, oil and 5 cups flour and knead (adding other 1/2 cup, if needed).
  • Place dough in greased bowl, cover and let rise in slightly warm oven until double in size.
  • Punch down and allow to rest 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Divide in half and shape in 2 greased loaf pans.
  • Brush loaves with margarine and bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350°.
  • Remove from pans immediately.
  • Yields 2 loaves.
