Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. shortening
- nuts, if desired
Method
- Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients slowly, mixing well.
- (Mrs. Bess used lard; I used 2 sticks butter and I also had to use more flour to keep their shape.)
- They are good.
- You can keep in refrigerator several days before baking or bake fresh.
