Ingredients

  • 2 Cups warm water
  • 2 Cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 Tbs. dry active yeast
  • 1 ts. salt
  • 1/3 Cup honey
  • 1/3 Cup oil or melted butter
  • 5 Cups all purpose flour

Method

  • dissolve yeast in water with honey and stir well
  • mix in whole wheat flour, salt, and oil or butter
  • work all purpose flour in gradually
  • knead for at least 10-15 minutes
  • place in well oiled bowl, cover with a towel and let rise until doubled in bulk
  • punch down dough and knead again
  • place in 2 well oiled 9X5 loaf pans and let rise until doubled in bulk
  • bake at 375 for about 30 minutes
