Ingredients

  • 1 None eggplant, peeled, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup kecap manis (thick sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp roasted sesame seeds

Method

  • Arrange eggplant in a single layer in a large bamboo steamer. Place steamer over a large pan of simmering water and steam eggplant for 5 mins, or until tender.
  • Preheat grill. Thread eggplant onto 8 bamboo skewers. Whisk together kecap manis, honey and sesame oil until combined. Brush over skewers then grill, basting occasionally with remaining honey mixture, for 5 mins, or until browned.
  • Serve skewers sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds.
