Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast (softened in 1/4 c. warm water)
  • 5 c. flour
  • 5 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Method

  • Sift together dry ingredients, cut in shortening.
  • Stir in buttermilk and yeast.
  • Turn out on floured board and knead.
  • Leave dough in refrigerator and take out as much as needed.
  • Roll about 1/2-inch thick and cut into biscuits.
  • Bake at 425° until brown (about 12 to 15 minutes).
