Ingredients
- 12 chopped onion
- 2 cups chopped celery
- 1 cup cubed ham
- 1 small potato, diced
- 1 cup chopped carrot
- raisins (optional)
- 1 cup instant oatmeal
- 3 cups water
- salt or pepper
Method
- Combine onion, celery and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
- After water reaches boiling, reduce to medium or low heat.
- Add ham, potato, carrots and raisins and let simmer for no more than 20 minutes or until carrots are less firm (you still want to see a slight crisp to them for the sake of baking!

- Drain broth into a separate bowl and use it to prepare instant oatmeal as a substitute for hot water!
- Place simmered ingredients in a baking dish and cover with oatmeal.
