Ingredients

  • 12 chopped onion
  • 2 cups chopped celery
  • 1 cup cubed ham
  • 1 small potato, diced
  • 1 cup chopped carrot
  • raisins (optional)
  • 1 cup instant oatmeal
  • 3 cups water
  • salt or pepper

Method

  • Combine onion, celery and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  • After water reaches boiling, reduce to medium or low heat.
  • Add ham, potato, carrots and raisins and let simmer for no more than 20 minutes or until carrots are less firm (you still want to see a slight crisp to them for the sake of baking!
