- 1/4 c light brown sugar,
- 1/4-1/2 cup fresh cranberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar,
- 1tsp granualated sugar
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour,
- 1 tsp lemon zest,
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg,
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon,
- 3-4 apples,
- 2 tbsp chopped walnuts,
- pie crust (frozen package),
- 1 egg
Method
- Preheat oven to 425 F, Spray 9 inch deep dish pie pan. Place one of the pie halfs on the base of the pan.
- In a large bowl add brown sugar, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, flour. lemon zest, nutmeg, cinnamon, chopped walnuts and mix well.
- Peel, core and slice apples thin, add apples and cranberries to sugar mixture, stirring until coated and scoop into prepared pie dish.
- Place other pie crust on top of filling, fit to edges, trimming, and using a fork to close edges. To glaze brush pie crust with beaten egg and then sprinkle with 1 tsp granulated sugar.
- Bake until crust is golden brown, about 35 minutes, cool for about 30 minutes and serve warm.
