Ingredients

  • 1 ham bone with meat
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 3 potatoes, cubed
  • 1 c. butter beans
  • 1/2 c. green peas
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. snap beans in bite-sized pcs
  • 2 lg. onions, diced
  • 3 carrots, minced
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1/4 c. diced turnips
  • 1 c. fresh corn
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 pound tomatoes, liquid removed & minced

Method

  • Cover the ham bone with water in a large kettle and boil till meat is almost tender.
  • Add in remaining ingredients, except corn.
  • Cover and cook slowly for 3-4 hrs, adding corn during last 15 min.
