Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 c. onion, chopped
- 1 c. potatoes, cubed
- 1 c. carrots, cubed
- 1/2 c. celery, chopped
- 1/4 c. rice
- 1 (No. 2) can tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1/4 tsp. basil
- 5 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 1/2 qt. water
Method
- Lightly saute beef and onion; add remaining ingredients except tomatoes.
- Simmer at least 1 1/2 hours.
- Add tomatoes at the very last.
- Serve with toasted cheese bread.
- Super cheap, easy and very hearty.
