Ingredients

  • 4 Green peppers
  • 2 tbsp Shirasu or chirimen jako
  • 1 packet Bonito flakes
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 2 tbsp Sake
  • 1 White toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 Sesame oil
  • 1 Shichimi seasoning

Method

  • Remove the stem from the green peppers and cut into chunks.
  • Heat up the frying pan and put in the shirasu.
  • Dry-fry on medium heat, remove and set aside.
  • Pour the sesame oil into Step 2.
  • Cook the peppers and when they become tender, add the shirasu from Step 2.
  • Add the ingredients and then cook in the frying pan.
  • Lastly, add the bonito flakes and quickly stir-fry as they mix in.
  • Arrange on a plate and optionally top with white sesame seeds and shichimi spice.

  • Lightly Pickled Cucumbers with Shio-Koji.
