Ingredients
- 3 c. white sugar
- 1 pound pure lard
- 1 c. dark molasses
- 2 c. cool water
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 6-8 c. flour
Method
- Heat lard in large kettle.
- Cold.
- Add in sugar-molasses and water-mix.
- Add in salt-soda-cinnamon.
- Nutmeg, ginger and 6 c. flour.
- Mix well.
- Will be sticky.
- Flour board well and work more flour into dough as you divide in workable sections.
- Roll.
- Cut desired size.
- Place on greased and floured cookie pans.
- Sprinkle with white sugar and top of each.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 min.
