Ingredients

  • brisket of beef
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic salt
  • paprika
  • 2 pkg. dried onion soup mix
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/2 doz. gingersnaps
  • chili sauce
  • 8 potatoes
  • 5 carrots
  • 3 onions, quartered

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic salt and of brisket.
  • Empty onion soup mix on bottom of pan.
  • Add water and brisket.
  • Add the gingersnaps to the juice around brisket.
  • Spread chili sauce on top of brisket.
  • Add the potatoes, carrots and onions; bake for 1 1/2 hours at 350°. Remove brisket and slice on a cutting board.
  • Put the sliced brisket back in gravy until tender, about 1/2 to 1 hour.
