Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. syrup
  • 4 to 6 slices pineapple
  • 1/4 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Melt butter in cake pan.
  • Add syrup and bring to a boil.
  • Add pineapple and raisins.
  • Cream shortening and sugar.
  • Add egg and dry ingredients.
  • Add molasses and water.
  • Pour batter over 1st mixture.
  • Bake 30 or 35 minutes.
  • Serve with or without cream.
