Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 12 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 14 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 34 cup firmly packed golden brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1 large egg

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Sift together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt into bowl; set aside.
  • Combine butter, brown sugar, orange zest, and egg in large bowl.
  • Using electric mixer set on high speed, beat until light and fluffy.
  • Reduce speed to low, add flour mixture and mix until well blended.
  • Pack dough into cookie press,.
  • Fit with desired plate.
  • Press dough out onto ungreased baking sheets spacing cookies 1 1/2 inches apart.
  • Bake until just firm to touch, about 10 minutes.
  • Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool.
  • Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
