Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 3/4 tsp. soda
  • 3/4 tsp. ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. margarine
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • chopped walnuts (if desired)

Method

  • Set oven at 350°.
  • Cream margarine.
  • Add sugar, eggs and molasses; mix well.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Mix in flour, soda and salt. Form dough in walnut size pieces; roll in sugar.
  • Bake 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 12 to 14 minutes. Press down with a fork dipped in sugar.
