Ingredients

  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. Angel Flake coconut
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 stick butter or oleo
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese (not fat-free)
  • 1 box powdered sugar

Method

  • Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with Pam; pour evenly in the bottom of the baking dish 1 cup chopped pecans and 1 cup coconut. Set aside. Mix cake mix exactly as directed on cake box. Pour batter evenly over the nuts and coconut in baking dish. Set aside. Combine butter (or oleo) and cream cheese and microwave until butter is melted and cream cheese is nearly all melted. Mix until smooth. Next stir in powdered sugar (a little at a time) until all is mixed well with the cream cheese/butter mixture. Stir until this combination is smooth. Pour this mixture over top of cake mix, pecans and coconut. Bake at 350° until toothpick in cake comes out clean or 40 to 50 minutes.
