Ingredients

  • 50 light caramels
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. melted butter
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Method

  • Melt and stir caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in heavy pan.
  • Mix in large bowl the cake mix, butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk and pecans.
  • Stir until dough hangs together.
  • Press half of dough in well-greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 6 minutes.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over crust.
  • Pour caramel mix over chips.
  • Spoon rest of dough on top.
  • Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
  • Cool slightly and cut into bars.
