Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour (reserve 3/4 c. to coat fruit/nuts)
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1 1/2 tsp. milk
  • 4 tsp. orange juice
  • 1/2 lb. candied cherries
  • 1/2 lb. candied green pineapple
  • 1 lb. dates, cut up
  • 1 lb. pecans (about 4 c.), chopped

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
  • Add 3/4 cup flour and soda, a little at a time.
  • Combine milk and orange juice and add to flour mixture. Add nuts and fruits which have been coated with the remaining 3/4 cup flour.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes.
